It's pronounced "sehn".

The Seine River dominates Paris, and knowing how it winds through the city is key to understanding where you are.  The same was only partly true of knowing how the Thames runs through London.

We took a night time river cruise up and down the Seine.  We'd expected it to be nice and romantic, but it didn't quite turn out that way.

First, it was actually a pretty brisk evening, so it was a little difficult to shake that off.  And as another distraction, there was a bus load of who we think were greek college kids that joined us.  These guys were lively!  Everytime we went under a bridge (and there are a lot of bridges!), they'd hoot and holler to hear the echos.  They got the crowd doing "the wave" every time, and we even had people start lining up on the top of bridges just to watch and hear us go under.

In many ways, these guys made the trip more enjoyable. If you watch the movie on this page, you'll see what I mean.

One photo I thought I'd taken (but can't find) is of a mini - Statue of Liberty that was on the river, just south of the Eiffel Tower.

The tower itself is all lit up at night, and dominates the skyline as much during the night as it does during the day.  Every once in a while, they'd also make it sparkle with strobes of bright flashes all over it.
