We'd have liked to have gone into Westminster Abbey, but our timing was off... it closed only about half an hour before we got there.  Even so, it was amazing just to walk around the outside.

Again, on a subsequent visit, we'll have to come back here.  all sorts of famous people have their bodies entombed inside, and you actually walk right on top of their headstones.

Now THIS caught us off-guard.  Click on the image to the left and look at the sculptures above the door.  Specifically, check out the fifth one.  If you can't figure out who it is, then look at the listing in the smaller image here on the right.

I just thought that was so very, very cool.

Check out the statue above.
It's King Richard!

To us Americans, these are arbitrary names from history books, and they almost slip into being fairy tales.  To the British, this is history that they walk and drive by as daily reminders.

I was chatting with our hosts at the bed and breakfast.  They consider 100 miles to be a really long distance (which we chuckle about).  We consider 100 years to be a long time ago (which they chuckle about).

This is just a nice picture that Matt took.  :-)
