At first glance, this may look like your standard Ferris Wheel, but it ain't!

Apparently, it was put up to celebrate or acknowledge the millennium, and it's right on the shores of the Thames (pronounced "tehms").  We had pre-purchased tickets for it on-line, which was good thinking by Tracy.

It takes a full half hour for you to go one complete circuit on this, and we arranged to have a sunset ride.  You'll notice that the evening takes hold over the course of the photos shown here.

Each of the capsules can hold as many as 15 or so people comfortably, and you barely feel the thing moving.  It never stops turning.  At the end of the ride, they open the doors, and people walk off it onto the platform as it continues to go around.  Two guys go on and do a security check (complete with using mirrors to check under and over everything), and then the next crowd gets on.

We're particularly pleased at how well some of these photos came out.  You can clearly see Big Ben and Parliament!  The image on the right was taken through glass, at night, using zoom, and it's only very slightly blurry.  Not bad!

Someplace else in the collection is a photo of Tracy and I standing under the pretty blue lights you see in the photo on the right.

Now, we'd already eaten a dinner prior to getting this far into the night, but by the end of the ride, we were once again really hungry.  It might have had something to do with the time change or something.  Even so, in our strolls after leaving the Eye, we ended up outside a really tasty looking steak restaurant and figured what the heck... so we had our second dinner for the day, and it was excellent!
