We never made it inside.

But that's okay.
We understand that to do it right would take nearly a full day in itself.  This place is massive.  It goes on for blocks and blocks.  We were content enough to just stroll around the outside.

The lighting alone made this a really great place to be.  The sun was setting low in the sky at the time we were there, and as such it manage to send its light in from under a bank of clouds that were working their way into the area.

The meant that the buildings, from our view, were nicely lit, while providing very ominous clouds.  Kind of a Mordor type of effect.

Mordor

It was just fun to run around taking pictures all over the place.  Many of the ones here actually can work pretty well for screen savers and wallpaper on your computer desktop.

This image on the right is particularly nice.  Click on it to see the larger version, and notice the detail.  Craftsmanship of this sort was on every single corner of the whole building.  In fact, details like this pretty much surround you from the moment you arrive in town, and it can serve both to impress and inspire, as well as wear you down.

The Close Quarter Form

We couldn't help ourselves on this one.  As we were leaving the area, we notice this statue on the grounds, and the pose was very much like one we're taught in our martial arts classes.  It's called the grounded non-violent posture, and serves as a reference point or starting position for many of our tactics.

Here's Matt and I getting ready to engage the naked statue lady in battle.
