It looks just like it does in the Disney movie!

It's so nice when life reflects art.  :-)

Seriously, that's part of the reaction you get when you first see this building; The Disney artists got it right on the money.  This seemed to be one of the main congregation points in town (no pun intended).  It's just nice to hang out here.

As luck would have it, we were right in front when the new Pope was announced.  Bells were ringing, TV crews were all over the place, people were kneeling.  We had no idea what was going on, because we didn't speak French!

What's nice to nice notice if you click on the image to the right is the collection of gargoyles that serve as rain gutters up along the side of the building.

We should probably have taken more photos of this building from other angles.  In particular, it would have been nice to get photos of the flying buttresses along the back.  As Matt pointed out, the term "flying buttress" is actually pretty darned funny, especially the first time you hear it.
